The proportion of senior citizens in India is projected to increase from 8% to 20% of the total population by 2050. Ensuring that they stay in good physical and mental health will be of utmost importance, especially for those that belong to lower social strata and/or have been abandoned by their families and live in senior citizen homes or shelters.
We have recently raised funds for building shelters for residents of The Earth Saviours, an institution in Gurugram, that looks after homeless, abandoned and mentally challenged senior citizens.
Further initiatives focused on the care of senior citizens, including new projects with The Earth Saviours, Gurgaon and Sneha Mandir, Goa will be announced shortly.
